Match Day Playlist

Many of you have asked me about the music that I play on match days at Selhurst Park, so  I thought that I'd give you a run down of the playlist and highlight some of the other music you hear on match days

I usually start the music 90 minutes prior to kick off. This will be played from a CD that I would have compiled for the match and would last for 45 minutes. It would be made up of both new tracks and some from years gone by. This would  take me round to 45 minutes prior to kick off, and that's when I switch to another CD that is the compilation of tracks that I play at every home game in the build up to kick off.

                        The tracks are as follows:

                'Kick' Inxs

'It's My Life' - Bon Jovi

                      'Make Love' Room 5

 Paul Weller

                      'Step It Up'-  Stereo MC's

'Town Called Malice'- The Jam  (ft Paul Weller)

'Too Much Too Young'- The Specials

'That's Entertainment'- The Jam (ft Paul Weller)

                      'Move Your Body' - Xpansions

                      'Fly Like An Eagle'- Seal

The Specials

'The Theme From  'The Saint'- Orbital

'The Theme From 'Shaft'- Isaac Hayes

Isaac Hayes

By this time its is now 2 minutes to go before the teams enter the stadium. At this point I play the track called 'Taken', which is from the Original Soundtrack of the film 'The Long Good Friday'. I sampled it onto my computer and looped it for 5 minutes to allow for any change in time for the teams coming out. Once I see the match officials enter the stadium, that's my cue to welcome the teams over the pa, hit the 'Go' button on the cartridge machine for, yep, you guessed it, 'Glad All Over' by The Dave Clark Five. I then read out the teams. There would normally be about 90 seconds left before kick off, and that's when you'll hear the intro to ''Kernkraft 400' by Zombie Nation.

Other notable pieces of music you'll hear are as follows

When we score!  - '25 Miles' by The Three Amigos ( remixed to feature Jonathan Pearce screaming Gooaaaal)

When Dougie Freedman scores - '   Who Let The Dogs Out?' by The Bahaa Men

When Jobi scores  -  'Give It Up' by KC and the Sunshine Band

At halftime, I will be playing a sample of 'Gold' by Spandeau Ballet as a music bed for when I hand over to Terry Byfield on the pitch.  Jean, from the Palace Crystal Cheerleaders would have given me a CD earlier that day so I would have that cued up ready for them to start their routine. I would also normally fit in the featured artist of the day. This would normally be linked to any competition I may be running that day on my page in the programme.

When the teams are coming out for the second half, I play the Zombie Nation track.

At the end of the game, if we win then I play 'Glad All Over' again followed by 'One More Time' by Daft Punk.

But if we lose or draw, I'll go straight into 'Children/Sandstorm' by Darude Vs Robert Miles.

If you have any questions relating to the music I play on match days, drop me an email.
